Where the school run goes wrong
Four things come up again and again when we sit down with a school or a bus operator in Malta.
The office phone starts at 07:10
Fifteen parents ring in a single morning to ask where the bus is. Somebody in the office has to answer, and the answer is a guess built on the last time anyone saw the driver.
A swapped bus breaks the plan
One bus goes in for repair and a replacement runs the route. Every parent who learned the registration is now watching for the wrong vehicle, and somebody has to tell them all.
Nobody can prove the stop was made
A parent says the bus never came. The driver says it did. With no timestamp against that stop, it is one person's word against another and the school is in the middle.
Speed on the road to the gate
You cannot follow every bus down every road, and drivers know it. The approach to a school is the one stretch where being 15 km/h over is noticed by everyone standing at the gate.

In the yard
The transport coordinator assigns today's bus to Route 7. It takes about 30 seconds. The link parents already have now points at that vehicle, so nobody needs telling and nothing is resent.

First stop
The bus crosses the geofence around the first stop. Arrival and departure are timestamped against that stop, and the same happens at every stop down the route.

On a parent's phone
The link opens in any browser with nothing to install, and a parent watches the bus approach the stop on the map. It does not show the driver's name, any other route, yesterday's trip, or your alerts.

At the school gate
The bus enters the geofence around the school and the arrival lands in the log. If the driver went over the speed threshold you set on that vehicle, the alert reached your safety contact while the bus was still moving.

After the afternoon run
The link runs on a schedule you set: days of the week, plus a start and an end time. Open it outside those windows and you get a "not available" message instead of a map, so nobody watches where the bus parks overnight.

Arrival and departure export to PDF or Excel, per stop and per route. When a parent asks about last Tuesday, you send the timestamps instead of an apology.

The reason a school signs is usually the incident that did not happen, and that one never shows up in a spreadsheet. Illustrative arithmetic, not a measured customer outcome.
Frequently asked
Parents see the live position of the bus on a map, and that is the whole of it. They do not see the driver's name, any other route, historical trips, or the alerts you have set up, and the page carries no arrival estimate. Each link covers one route, so a parent with two children on two routes gets two links and each one shows only its own bus.
The link hands over the least data that does the job: the live position of one route's bus, and nothing else. Driver identity, other routes and trip history stay inside your account. Scheduling narrows it further, because you set the days and the start and end times the link works during, and a parent who opens it outside those windows gets a "not available" message rather than a map. Set 07:00 to 09:00 and 14:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, and the bus is invisible the rest of the time. You choose who gets a link and you can retire one whenever you like. The school or the operator is normally the data controller here, so the notice you give parents is yours to write, and we will tell you exactly what the link exposes so you can write it accurately.
Reassign the route to the other bus in the dashboard. It takes about 30 seconds and the parents' link updates on its own, because the link belongs to the route rather than to a registration. Nobody has to be told and nothing has to be resent.
Yes. Buses on Gozo track exactly as they do on Malta, and a stop geofence works anywhere you can draw one. One honest caveat for runs that use the ferry: a tracker can lose signal for a few minutes on the crossing. The trail fills in once the device reconnects, so the link shows a gap rather than a wrong position.
It depends on how many buses you run, how many stops you want fenced, and whether you want SMS or WhatsApp alerts on top of the free email ones. We quote per fleet rather than publishing a price list, because a two-bus school and a fifteen-bus operator are not the same job.
