Marine fleet management software for boats and vessels

Charter boats, tenders and workboats on the same account as the vans. Where each one is close to shore around Malta and Gozo, what the cabin is doing, when it was last serviced, and which certificate runs out next month.

What goes wrong

Where a boat is harder than a van

Four things come up in most conversations we have with an operator running boats alongside vehicles.

Nobody ashore knows where it is

The van has a tracker and a plate and anyone in the office can see it on the map. The boat left the marina at seven, and the office finds out what it did when the skipper comes back and says so.

The cabin warmed up overnight

A cabin or a hold carrying something that matters drifts through a Maltese August, and the first sign of it is what somebody finds in the morning.

Servicing lives in somebody's head

The hull clean, the engine service, the inspection that got done in March. It is on a wall planner, in a notebook, or in the memory of whoever did it last.

A certificate expires at the wrong moment

Safety certificates, operating permits, registration and insurance all carry a date, and the date gets remembered late far more often than it gets remembered early.

What you pay depends on how many vehicles you run and what you fit to them. Tell our Malta team both and we will quote it.

Features used

What marine fleet management runs on

The same account, the same map and the same reports as the rest of the fleet. What changes is what we fit to the boat.

Asset tracking, geofencing, environmental monitoring and alerts are part of Yipii IoT, the core tracking account, with the cabin sensors quoted as hardware alongside it. Service records and certificate reminders come from Yipii Mobility, which is bought as one add-on covering the whole app rather than feature by feature.

Included with Yipii Mobility, the add-on that extends your IoT account. One subscription covers everything in the app, so no feature here is sold on its own. What Yipii Mobility includes

A sealed marine GPS tracker of the type wired to a boat battery
Hardware for this job

A wired tracker, and a sensor where the air matters

A boat has permanent power at the battery and no OBD port to plug into, so the tracker is a wired install done by our own people. It carries a Yipii multi-network SIM that moves between GO, Melita and Epic, which is what keeps a hull reporting along the coast and across the Gozo channel. Where a cabin or a hold matters, an Eye sensor reads temperature and humidity from inside it and reports through the same tracker.

  • Wired install at the battery, not a plug-in dongle
  • A multi-network SIM that switches between GO, Melita and Epic
  • Eye sensors for cabin and hold temperature and humidity
  • Close to shore only, because coverage stops where the mobile network does

Frequently asked

Yes, within mobile coverage, and that is the honest boundary of it. A Yipii multi-network SIM moves between GO, Melita and Epic, which covers close-to-shore work around Malta, around Gozo and across the channel between them. Go past the network and the boat stops reporting until it is back in range, at which point the device syncs the positions it buffered while it was out. If your vessels work well offshore, tell us early and we will show you where the limit falls rather than let you find it on a Saturday.

Yes. Marine is a parent asset type in Yipii, so a boat lives in the same list, on the same map and in the same reports as the cars and vans, with its own icon. You get live position, movement history replayable by date and by trip, and the same geofences and alerts you use on the road. There is no second system to log into and no separate export to reconcile.

Yes, and it is the usual reason an operator here calls us in the first place. Cars, vans, boats, jet skis, trailers and equipment sit in one fleet, grouped and filtered by type, by location or by business unit. A charter company running cars and boats, or a contractor with trucks and a workboat, runs the lot from one account and one set of reports.

Yes, with one limitation worth knowing before you buy. Yipii Mobility holds the service history, the inspections and the reminders per vessel, so a hull clean, an engine service or a lay-up is recorded in one place with the work and the parts against it. Reminders run on a date or on distance, never on engine run-time, so an interval you would normally count in engine hours has to be approximated with a calendar interval. Tell us which intervals matter on your boats and we will set them up that way.

Safety certificates, operating permits, registration documents, insurance policies, equipment manuals and inspection reports, attached to the vessel record and organised by type. Anything carrying an expiry date gets a reminder before it passes, so a renewal becomes a diary item instead of a surprise. Document handling comes from Yipii Mobility, the add-on that sits on top of the IoT tracking account.

Past the network the boat stops reporting. We would rather say so now.

Movement at an hour when nobody should be aboard is the same job we describe for plant on a site, under Theft recovery & unauthorised movement.

Put one boat on the map and see how it reads

A short call with our Malta team. Tell us what you run, how far off the coast it goes and what you need recorded, and we will quote the fitting and the account together.
