Cookie policy

Open yipii.com for the first time and a panel slides up from the bottom of the screen with three buttons on it. This cookie policy sets out what sits behind each one: what gets stored on your device, who stores it, what it is used for, and how long it stays there.

What we store ourselves

One thing, and it is not a cookie. When you answer the banner we save your answer in your browser's local storage under the name yipii_consent. It holds three true-or-false values, one for each category below. It stays on your device, we never read it from our side, and it is the reason the banner does not ask you again on the next page.

Yipii's own code sets no cookies at all. Every cookie in the tables below is set by a third party we load onto the page.

Necessary

Always on, and in our case it holds no cookies. The consent record above is the only thing in this category. It cannot be switched off, because switching it off would mean the banner reappearing on every page you open.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. It tells us which pages get read, which get abandoned halfway, and which country the traffic came from. We use it to work out what to write next. Nothing in it carries your name, your email address or anything else you typed into a form.

Marketing

The Meta pixel, and Google's advertising tags in the same Tag Manager container. These measure whether an ad we ran led to somebody reading a page or sending an enquiry, and they are what lets us show a follow-up ad to people who have been here before.

We cannot list the Google advertising cookies one by one, because which of them load depends on the campaigns running in our Tag Manager container at the time. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser stops all of them regardless.

What your choice does

"Accept all" turns analytics and marketing on. "Reject all" turns both off, and closing the banner with the X or pressing Escape does the same. "Manage cookies" opens a switch for each category, so you can take one and leave the other.

Whatever you pick is passed to Google Tag Manager as a Google Consent Mode v2 signal. That signal governs the Google tags on the page: with analytics or advertising storage set to denied, those tags still run but write nothing to your device.

The Meta pixel is handled separately, and more bluntly. Without marketing consent its script is never put on the page, so there is nothing to write a cookie or report a visit. Accepting loads it there and then, without waiting for you to open another page.

Changing your mind

The cookie settings link at the bottom of every page brings the banner back with the switches showing what you picked last time. Move one, save, and the new answer replaces the old one on the spot.

To wipe the record rather than change it, clear this site's stored data in your browser. In Chrome that is Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies, then See all site data and permissions, then yipii.com. Safari and Firefox both keep the same option under their own privacy settings. Clearing it removes the yipii_consent record along with the cookies the tags have already set, and the banner asks again on your next visit as though you had never answered.
