Photos attach to the item that failed
A line that reads "nearside tyre worn" means one thing to the driver who wrote it and something else to the insurer reading it six weeks later. A photo taken at the vehicle, stamped with the time and tied to the check item, does not need interpreting.
Taken on the phone, or added at a desk
Tap to shoot the photo with the phone camera during the walk-around, or pick one already sitting in the gallery. Either way it attaches the moment you choose it, on the check item you are standing in front of.
From a desk it is a file upload or a drag and drop, several images at a time. JPG, PNG, HEIC off an iPhone and WebP all go through.
Evidence you can make mandatory
A template can require a photo on an item, and the inspection will not submit until that evidence is attached. Set it on anything that can fail.
A failed item with no photo on it is hard to defend when an auditor asks what the fault actually looked like, so our guidance is to treat photos as mandatory on every failure, including the minor ones.
What is stored beside the image
The time it was taken, who uploaded it, the check item it belongs to, its category and its file size. Camera EXIF data survives the upload, including GPS coordinates when the phone recorded them.
Yipii keeps the original at full resolution and serves a resized copy so the record still opens quickly on a phone at the roadside. Upload the same file twice and Yipii recognises it rather than storing a second copy.
There is no photo editor inside Yipii. You cannot crop, rotate or draw an arrow on the dented panel once the image is in, so frame the shot properly at the vehicle. What the photo does instead is travel. A failed item raises an issue on its own and takes the picture, the comment and the severity with it, and promoting that issue to a work order keeps the evidence attached all the way to the repair.
